Good to read again, link made on Polaroid Passion !
Thank-you. Readers: We need to have you put a link to New55 in more places. FB is ok, but there are better places, especially sites and blogs where you have accounts where you can comment. Please mention that New55 is an all new way to use 4x5 cameras that is wonderful and exciting, and to find out more at http://new55project.blgospot.com
Of course if you mis spell the link, it won't work.
the correct link is
http://new55project.blogspot.com
thanks
Hi, I must be getting this all wrong !!!
Is there actualy a film New55 out ?
I have a Sinar and a De Vere just craving for 55 !
All the best,
There could be - we've shown that it is possible and have produced some results that we think are of quite high quality and artistic potential. The actual tooling up and production has to wait until the funding is available, and after that it would take about 8 months to produce the first for-sale New55. We know it is possible and practical to do this and have made a big effort to do our homework with respect to the market, the manufacturing tooling and costs, and the source of supplies which are all critical parts of making such a product.
You can help make the product a commercial reality by linking to this blog and helping us build the consensus for New55 among artists, photographers and students interested in what is still the highest resolution, sharpest and we think most creatively fun photographic medium available today.
I thought I had heard that a present version of Type55 is available somewhere. Isn't there a company that has taken over Polaroids patents and is making certain Polaroid films?
There are no patents or other T55 makers that we know of. There is the Impossible Project in Enschede Holland that produces the integral film for Spectra and SX 70 cameras. I've been there.
Bob, how are you measuring interest in the New55 project - ie, how will you know that you have enough backing to start production?
We've done extensive marketing research and developed sales scenarios for the sales side, which is ever changing. As far as backing, Soundwave Research has backed all of the R&D expense along with 20x24, and now another round needs to be done to fund production scale up. We do not have that at present but are working on it. We know the exact amount needed and this has been published, and we also know how long it will take after the commitment to production is made with the necessary money in the bank to start to configure production, packaging and fulfillment.
